CARE INSTRUCTIONS

We make our solid wood furniture in accordance with highest standards of design and functionality. We believe you will have our furniture for a long time so taking proper steps in caring and maintenance of our products is important. We want you to enjoy our furniture for years to come and are truly grateful you chose us to be a part of your home.

Solid wood is natural and as such it will have slight variations in grain, colour and tone. This means that you will see different patterns in grain, knots, and colour variations that will add uniqueness and character to your product. These natural characteristics add beauty to our products as it separates our natural furniture from production line veneers, MDFs, and rubber woods.

We like to refer to the wood as a living thing because it reacts to the environment it is placed in. Scientifically speaking, wood is hygroscopic. This means that it absorbs moisture from the air. In colder months, the wood will expel moisture into the air and contract, while in the warmer months, it will absorb moisture and expand. That being said, you can expect slight changes in your wood products throughout the year, although these changes mostly go unnoticed. On rare occasions, tiny cracks might develop during the transitional periods. To minimize this effect, we recommend a constant room temperature between 18°C and 24°C and humidity between 50% and 60%. During the colder, dry winter months, the humidity should not drop below 40%. These conditions are also very optimal for our own health so these conditions will not only help the wood but they will also have a positive effect on your own health too.

Solid wood may also be subject to small colour changes under influence of some lights (artificial or UV). Lighter woods might get darker and darker woods might fade. If you have decorative items, you may want to occasionally move them as the area underneath them won’t be affected and might result in a contrasting spot.

When it comes to everyday cleaning and care, our solid wood furniture is extremely resilient and very user-friendly. The natural wood finishes we use are commercial-grade and formulated to withstand heavy traffic use. These natural finishes are safe for the environment and you, and they do not require any chemicals or harsh cleaning products. A simple dust cloth is more than enough for most day-to-day cleaning and a dampened wet cloth can be used for a more detailed cleaning if you wish. Whenever you use a damp cloth or there is a wet area, you should use a clean, dry cloth to make sure everything is dry and clean. In case of a heavier soil, you may also use a mild soap or one of our natural cleaners specifically designed for our natural finishes. Please avoid using any harsh chemicals or cleaning agents as these might damage the wood.

You should also avoid placing hot items directly onto the wood and please note that waxes and some spices might stain the wood. Use of coasters is advised.

Occasionally, you can also refresh or renew your solid wood furniture with our natural sprays that are formulated for our natural finishes and provided directly by our finishing suppliers.
