OUR HISTORY
Founded in 2013, Toncha Hardwood has been creating high quality solid wood furniture and products for residences and commercial spaces from our Vancouver-based shop. We specialize in European wood species, primarily the European white oak and walnut, but also offer other solutions and species for our clients.
More than just another furniture manufacturer, we like to work closely with clients to create wonderful solid wood pieces that will be enjoyed for years to come. Designed and built for a lifetime.
THE NAME ‘TONCHA’
Toncha is more than just our company name; it is a nickname that has been in our family for generations. Therefore, it was only fitting to give our company a meaningful name, one that we can relate to.
As such, every project that we carry out and every furniture piece we build is personal to us. We put passion and pride into our craftsmanship and if the final product is not something we'd have in our own home, we go back and redo it until it is perfect.

FINISHES
High quality finishes are essential in order to protect the wood and ensure its longevity. Without it, the raw wood is exposed and can easily be damaged and cracked.
At Toncha Hardwood, we only use the best, commercial-grade finishes available. Crafted from natural sources without harmful chemicals or VOCs, these finishes work by penetrating and interacting with the wood itself. This preserves a more tactile feel of the natural wood and enhances the beauty of the wood grain.
Our finishes easily withstand the daily use and are great for heavy trafficked areas such as restaurants and offices. In case of a high wear or damage, these finishes can be spot-fixed easily and effortlessly.
We're always here for our clients, so if you ever need a patch kit because your kid decided to play around with a sharpie, we can hook you up.
SUSTAINABILITY
We do everything we can to give back to nature and our community.
We source our wood from sustainable, FSC certified, forests. Our hand-select materials for each project minimize waste and any off-cuts or unused materials get recycled or repurposed, usually for a good BBQ. Our sawdust gets used and recycled by local farms for their daily tasks.
The glue we use in our jointing is non-toxic and solvent-free, as well as FDA approved for indirect contact with food.
Our natural finishes produce 0 off-gases and contain 0% VOCs which keeps us and the environment around us safe.
